What does MacBend do?
MacBend is a native macOS menu-bar utility that renders a visual iPhone Duo-style fold transition when a compatible MacBook display opens or closes. It does not change the physical hinge, display hardware, macOS authentication process, or Apple firmware.
Which macOS versions and Mac hardware are required?
MacBend is configured for macOS 14.0 or later and requires a MacBook with a built-in display plus a compatible Apple lid-angle sensor that reports a valid angle. Hardware is checked at runtime. No Apple Silicon or Intel compatibility list is published.
Why does MacBend need Screen Recording permission?
macOS Screen Recording permission lets MacBend use ScreenCaptureKit to get the built-in display frames needed for the local effect. It is not used to send screen frames to MacBend servers.
Does MacBend upload my screen or require the internet?
Screen frames are processed transiently on the Mac; MacBend does not intentionally record, save, upload or cloud-process them, and licensing requests do not include screen content. Trial and licence checks use pseudonymous device/licence metadata and network/IP information. Internet is required to register or recheck a trial and for initial licence activation.
How do I install MacBend?
Open MacBend.dmg, drag MacBend into Applications, and open it. On first launch, enable MacBend under Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then quit and reopen the signed app.
How long is the free trial?
The trial lasts 24 consecutive hours from the first trial registration accepted by the licensing service. No payment card is required to start it, and it does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. Internet is required to register and validate the trial.
How much does lifetime access cost, and how many Macs are included?
Lifetime access costs USD $5.00 as a one-time, non-recurring purchase. Each purchase supplies three separate licence keys; each key activates one MacBook, for up to three activated Macs per purchase and one user.
Will MacBend work offline after activation?
After activation, MacBend can cryptographically verify its signed, device-bound Lifetime Licence offline and does not contact the licensing service on every launch. Trial registration, trial rechecks and initial activation still require internet.
Does MacBend work with an external display or in clamshell mode?
MacBend needs a built-in display. External-only displays and clamshell setups without the built-in panel are disabled by default. Compatibility depends on the lid-angle sensor, macOS APIs, permissions and operating-system behavior.
Does MacBend launch automatically at login?
MacBend starts its menu-bar utility when you open the app. The current source does not document or implement automatic launch at login, so no login-launch behavior should be promised.
Is MacBend affiliated with Apple?
MacBend is an independent SPZ Marketing LTD product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, approved by or officially connected with Apple Inc.; Apple product names are descriptive references.
Is MacBend a Bendy alternative?
MacBend is an independent Bendy alternative for users comparing MacBook fold-animation utilities. It makes no claim about Bendy's implementation, pricing or compatibility. The 24-hour trial is intended to evaluate MacBend on your device.
Can I choose different animation styles?
The production app provides a close animation toggle. Advanced calibration, manual progress, visual-effect sliders and freeze-frame controls are developer-only debug tools, not user-facing style presets.
